As the Tide Nears

I was there when your garden withered away,

And I saw how your tears struggled to sustain,

The life that your roses lust after, so long now,

Have they been haunted by your fading footsteps,

That resonate through this lingering dusk.

I have crawled nearer to where you used to lay,

In the shadow of your ever-darkening dream,

As a guide toward the only waning light, I served,

Only you and your need to escape in vain,

Drifted away in the wind like poetry.
