When there's no hope, I talk to the mirror.

I am still waiting
For the light at the end of the tunnel
Or a cloud with a silver lining
Or some kind of build-up
So I can stop tearing other people down

Sometimes when you lose hope
Words are meant to help
But when used wrongly
They pose as anticipated needles
To virgin skin

So maybe I've
Exposed my heart too many times
To too many wrong people
And then it leaves me lying
In the fetal position
Embracing the bathroom floor
It's done nothing wrong
It just gets walked on..

So what if I still
Want to be barbie
Reaching for the stars even though I
Can hardly reach the plates
Sitting up in the cabinets, their high horse
My height makes her wonder if it's also how I rate..

Sit still, in the calmest moment
A breakthrough, and then the scream
Of desire and nature and everything that's beautiful,
To stand and face that mirror-
Look myself in the face and yell
"I LOVE YOU!"
It's almost amazing
Until the realization
That nobody else can honestly say that,
And nobody ever will..
