EXT.Afternoon: Busy street corner shows the door to a hotel.

30 year old man, EVAN hold the door open for TASHA, 30. She takes her engagement off her finger then enters.

Cut To Int. Over the shoulder shot of the hotel owner and concierge.

CAS (50) sees them coming in and switches his computer window, we just missed the video he was watching.

cas

Welcome.

Tasha

We have a reservation, uh, Jones.

CAS

Yes, I see it here, room 6. Great view.

Tasha's phone starts to ring, she excuses herself. Evan comes to the counter as she walks to the corner.

CAS

Here is the key, it's just up the stairs and it's the corner room, very spacious. Hope you and the Mrs enjoy your stay. No luggage?

Evan

She's not m-um, no just two bags we can carry. Thanks.

Evan walks to Tasha and they go to the stairs.

EVAN

Was it him? (She nods yes) What did you say?

Just out of ear shot from Cas as they turn to the hallway, Tasha replies.

TASHA

He thinks I'm here, by myself, making preparations.

They reach the door and pause.

EVAN

We don't have to do this. I mean, I want to but -

TASHA

Open the door.

He opens the door, both solemn. A woman, wife of Cas' walks downstairs just as they entered.

Int. hotel room

Tasha storms in and Evan closes the door. She turns to face her and she slaps him.

TASHA

Well, I'm here! What the fuck am I doing?

EVAN

Slapping me.

TASHA

Shut up! You're the reason I'm here! You're the reason I am freaking out! And not just about this, about everything! I was fine, perfectly satisfied, I was a good person and now? Ha!

EVAN

You're still a good person. (she scuffs as she paces back and forth) Listen, you can blame me all you want but the truth is, you don't love him.

TASHA

Let me ask you something, how long have you dreamed and planned your wedding? What did you think of when you thought of your would be wife? Did you even think about it?

EVAN

No, not really.

TASHA

Well I have! I pictured my wedding in a million different ways in a thousand different locations, my dress ranged from long veil to no veil, sleeveless to lace and I though of the guy and I would be so sure, nervous but confident, you know? But I never thought that his brother's best friend would come and fuck it all up!

EVAN

Well of course you didn't, you're not a psychic.

TASHA

This is not a joke! What am I doing here? Why am I here? What do you want from me?

Evan comes closer to her and brings his arms up, slowly and brings them down to hold her face. He leans closer and she eventually gives in by moving closer to him. Then there is a knock on the door that startles them.

TASHA

Shit!

Evan goes to the door. He check the hole and it's Mrs. Cas. He opens the door.

Mrs. cas

Hello, just wanted to see if you are all settled and to bring you some extra towels and such.

EVAN

Thank you but we are fine.

Mrs. Cas ignores him and walks to the side table, placing the towels. She sees Tasha who is clearly upset.

MRS. CAS

Is everything alright?

EVAN

Yes -

Mrs. Cas looks at him sternly to stay quiet, she clearly didn't care about him. She looks at Tasha.

TASHA

I'm find, we're both fine. Just tired.

She leaves and Evan closes the door behind her. Tasha shatters to laugh.

TASHA

Well there's still one person who thinks I'm innocent. Evan, I'm sorry, this is not your fault.

Evan shrugs and stays quiet.

TASHA

I do want to be here, with you. I'm going to the bathroom to get, um, ready.

She picks her bag and does into the bathroom, closing the door. Evan goes to the bed and lies down, contemplating. He hears her turn on the sink water. Then he hears some static noise. There are voices he can't quite make out. He gets up and circles the room, his ear to the wall every few feet. Near the vent, he hears clearer but still static interferes. Suddenly, Tasha comes out in a beautiful nightgown, nervous.

TASHA

What are you doing?

EVAN

I just thought I heard something. You look, great, beautiful.

Tasha smiles and moves to the bed. Evan follows her.

Int. Front desk

The Cas' are going through papers. There's a glow from the computer screen, Cas is looking intently on it.

MRS. CAS

That new couple in room 6, there is something slightly off with them, don't you think?

Cas smirks. There is a light that comes on from the wall that can be seen behind the counter.

MRS. CAS

Oh, what could this possibly be about?

She starts to leave for the door next to the counter.

CAS

Remember, be nice.

She ignores his comment as he goes back to staring at the screen/

int. Room 6

It's been a few hours. Tasha and Evan are undressed lying in bed, sleeping on opposite sides of the bed. Tasha wakes up and quietly goes to the bathroom. She stares at herself a the mirror for a while. She feels conflicted, disgusted with herself, scared of all her choices she has made and has to make. She turns on the water faucet and leans down but behind her is herself looking at her with menace in her eyes.

Cut to Tasha waking up from her nightmare, a train is passing by and she is sweating. This wakes up Evan.

EVAN

What's the matter? What happened, your shaking.

TASHA

It's nothing, just a bad dream.

Evan puts his arm around her to conform her but she leaves the bed and runs for the bathroom grabbing her nightgown. He sighs and listens to her turning the faucet on. Then he hears the static again when the rain has passed and its quiet. He gets up and puts on some clothes walking back to the corner of the room where he had heard the static and voices the clearest. The vent at the top of the wall faces the whole room. Evan grabs a chair and stands closer to it and tries to listen.

voice

Please, help!

Evan backs away from the wall almost tripping. He gets down from the chair and knocks on the bathroom door.

TASHA

I just need a minute.

EVAN

I heard something Tasha, please come out. Now! This place is, something is going on.

Tasha opens the door and looks at his upset face.

TASHA

What? What happened?

Evan leading her to the chair under the vent.

EVAN

I heard something, a person yelling for help.

TASHA

Is this some kind of joke?

EVAN

No! Just, please, listen. Please!

Tasha climbs the chair and puts her ear closest she can to the vent but there's nothing. She goes on her tip toes and looks into the vent where her eyes widen.

EVAN

Do you hear it?

TASHA

No but I see something. Evan, go get my purse.

He goes to the bathroom and retrieves sit as she climbs down. She empties the purse and finds tweezers.

TASHA

I saw a light in the vent, a red light like on a camcorder.

Evan throws his hands in disbelief. She hands him a pointed nail filer.

TASHA

Use this to open the vent.

Evan goes to the vent and starts to unscrew them. Tasha gets dressed and grabs her cell phone moving around the room to look for a signal.

A voice is screaming in the distance.

EVAN

Did you hear that?

TASHA

Keep going! There is no signal and the hotel phone isn't working!

EVAN

Tasha, there's a camera here.

TASHA

Oh my God! Oh my God!

EVAN

We need to get out of here.

A knock on the door startles them. They stand motionless as they watch the door knob start to turn.

Cut To Black.

Cut to a basement lit only by candle. Evan and Tasha lie on the floor waking up. Mrs. Cas stands in the corner. When they become more coherent she asks:

MRS. CAS

You two aren't married are you? Not together at least. Don't get offended, this is good, well good for us.

She turns and goes up a flight of stairs.

Tasha (screaming):

Wait, please don't go!

But Mrs. Cas has left.

EVAN

Where the fuck are we?

VOICE

The basement.

Tasha and Evan turn to the left where they notice another woman, dirty, tired, clothes ripped.

TASHA

You're the voice we heard. What's your name?

VOICE

Tessa.

TASHA

How long have you been here?

Tessa

Lost count. It was July 4the weekend.

Tasha gasps.

EVAN

That was two months ago. Have you been alone this whole time?

TESSA

I was here with a client. I'm a prostitute. In the middle of the night they took me from the room, gassed me or something, next thing I know I was here.

TASHA

They think I'm a prostitute?

EVAN

Tasha!

TASHA

No, I'm sorry but it's just, I'm not and what makes them think I am?

TESSA

They take anyone that is sinning. Lust is the focus here.

EVAN

How do they know we were sinning?

TESSA

I've heard things, these owners are some sort of cult, witchcraft or something. They scatter around, owning business like hotels to attract people to come. They feed on us and our sins.

Tasha

Wait, so what is it like, a fast food buffet style is really owned by wishes looking for people committing gluttony? This is ridiculous.

TESSA

I don't know! All I know is I've been in and out of it for what you said 2 months.

Tasha gets and yells.

TESSA

Hey! We want answers, we want to get out of here!

Evan after staying silent and absorbing all of this, stands up, puts his hand on Tasha's shoulder to calm her down, and finally speaks.

EVAN

How often do they come down here?

TESSA

At least once a day, I think. They give food and water, every once in a while they drug me, I think we leave this basement and go somewhere else. I don't know, I am out of it for most of the time.

EVAN

No, I think this is just part of the basement. This building is too big. There's more here.

He walks around, knocking around the walls to hear shallowness, touching the walls and floors to find a hidden spot. Tasha starts too and finds a candle that seems to have moved recently. She fiddles around when she sees a hidden handle in the wall. She grabs the candle and pulls it. She struggles a bit, Evan rushes over to help, the door opening slightly more. With their effort, they open just enough to get in. They find a table in the center of the room.Photos of people are taped on the walls including pictures of Evan, Tasha, and Tessa.

EVAN

What the fuck?

Tasha walks around. She goes to the side table, there is information on them, their birthdays, contact information. She shuffles through the papers when she finds a cell phone.

TASHA

There's a phone here! There's no signal though.

EVAN

There was signal in the lobby. You received a call when we first got there. Let's try the stairs.

They run out of the room and go up the stairs as close to the door as they can. Tasha starts dialing 911 when the door opens suddenly and Tom, Tasha's fiance is at the door. Behind him is Cas and Mrs. Cas. Tom is a nice suit, in his early 30s, looking very professional and business-like.

CAS

There's my phone! Been looking all over for it!

Mrs. Cas rolls her eyes. Tessa shrinks and tries to hide even more in her corner. Evan backs down the stairs, shocked and confused. Tasha still crouched at the top of the stairs, stares at Tom, frozen. Tom bends down, takes the phone and tosses it do Cas who nearly drops it but does catch it. Tom gently grabs Tasha's arm to lead her to stand up.

tom

Hi, honey.

He smiles and gives her a kiss on the check.

TASHA

What - how - you are a part of this? Why?

Tom stays silent and lets her digest everything.

TASHA

You set me up? You set us up to come here? No, no, you're not in this, this lunacy! This is a mistake! This is, it's, it can't be true!

She turns to Tessa who hides her face, she clearly knows Tom.

TASHA

Tom, answer me! Please tell me what's going on!

TOM

I needed a bigger sin, lust with betrayal. Prostitutes just didn't cut it anymore.

Tasha turns to Evan.

TASHA

Were you a part of this?

Evan still shocked, nods furiously no.

TOM

No, our needs were greater, you both did your part. This is going to be very satisfying. You couldn't possibly think you two met by coincidence? We worked hard to get to this point.

Tasha crying and shaking now.

TASHA

We?

TOM

My family has been part of this institution for decades. Every few years, there needs to be a bigger sacrifice. And you two were perfect for that.

EVAN

Why us?

TOM

Why not? Now don't worry, it won't take long. First we need to finish with Tessa.

Tom, the Cas' move down the stairs. Tasha stumbles down with them and collapses to the floor at the last step. Evan goes to her and holds her. Tom grabs Tessa who screams and begs to be let go.

tom (to everyone)

You should be proud to be dying for us, it is a great gift.

He holds the shrieking Tessa, holding her face and looks deeply into her eyes. She calms down to quickly catatonic. He leads her to the next room. The Cas' follow and close the door. Everything is silent and the camera zooms slowly out from the closed door to show the basement with Tasha and Evan holding each other, staring at the hidden door.

Cut to black.

The End.
