I stood in anticipation waiting for my totem spirit to appear. I was in a clearing littered with pine needles, the damp smell of moss tickling my nostrils. The oldest tree in the world, the world tree was in this clearing. I looked up at in wonder, its branches spread high and low, home to many animals. I noticed a man sitting on one low branch. His eyes were as brown as the bark of the tree behind him and speckled with orange. A strange haunting tune echoed around the forest and I saw he was playing  the panpipes . Seeing me he jumped gracefully down. I stared wide eyed he had horns like a stag and legs of that of a goat. Pan, the name suddenly came to me head. I should ask him to meet my totem. \"O god Pan I have come to met my totem spirit\"I said honestly. His eyes glittered with understanding. He raised the panpipes to his lips and blows a soft, sweet note. As if they had heard it, the trees rustled and leaves flew whipping around the clearing. Something moved in the shadows. Squinting I tried to make out what it was. A red fox stepped out of the bushes it's eyes locking with mine. What was it doing hear? Then it hit me my totem spirit is a fox, this fox. A rush of emotions hit me happiness, relief, gratitude and wonder. Bowing deeply I thanked Pan. He smiled and melted into The shadows. Something wet touched my hand and I looked down to see my totems nose pressed against my hand. Running ahead it yelped for me to follow it. I turned around and wondered if id ever see this place again . The trees moaned in the gathering wind and dark menicing storm clouds rolled quickly in. How quickly it changed .I turned and ran after my fox who was trotting on, muscles rippling beneath its red fur. It's long fluffy tail was high in the air. It lead me along the path I had used before , aromas of wild herbs and flowers hung in the air. Birds tweeted worriedly and the meadow looked grey and colour less. The colours started to swirl and the land curve around me.

\"Time to go\" mum shouts waking me from my meditation. I jump and see im back in my messy bedroom. I wonder if I'll ever meet my totem spirit again and if so when?
