This is a poem about reflection, and how the simplest feelings can make us contemplate the deepest of concepts.

One Toe Slides through the reflection of my Face

then the next four and an Ankle,

then a leg

my reflection scampers away at the scene

S l o w l y  I  P l u n g e

my whole body into the water

and lean back,

I feel myself Succumb

to the heat,

feel the steam

embed

it’s urgency

into

my

Veins

And yet it calms me.

I suppose, Knowing

I am not alone in the urgency,

Knowing

something besides just little me

knows there are things...

to be done

and places

to be seen.

Men to be had,

Forests to be slept in,

Roads

to

Wander.

The temperature Rising In My Blood

Validates

my need to Run.

To dart away at a billion miles an hour

and never look back

So I let the urgency,

the Heat, the Steam,

the Boiling Over,

I let it all cover

my body.

It makes me feel alive,

It makes me feel pain,

It makes me feel excitement,

It makes me feel Feel.

Nowadays,

that doesn’t come easy,

feeling...

much...

of...

anything.

So numb to horror

To excitement,

so expectant of disappointment

we Bathe ourselves in it daily.

Not this girl,

Not this time,

Not this Soul.
