I remember when I first met you

I thought it was the real thing.

But as time wore on, I realized,

that to you it was just a fling.

You see now, I know much better,

I just hope you can say the same.

Cause I've had enough! Enough excuses,

And I wont be just a name.

You told me one day, things might be different,

But that day's too far away.

Once you held my hand, once I held you close,

Haven't I changed enough today?

Now I'm lost, lost in a darkness,

A darkness inside myself.

The cost, it's more than I expected,

and I'm lost inside the asylum of myself.

The days went on, and soon i saw,

all the people worse off then me.

They too, were trapped by a darkness,

That light could not defeat.

So I wait and I watch, hoping somehow,

that someday it'll all be right.

Cause right now hope is hard to see,

and I just can't trust my sight.

My judgement is clouded by lies,

And I no longer care if i even survive.

Now I'm lost, lost in a darkness,

A darkness inside myself.

The cost, it's more than I expected,

and I'm lost inside the asylum of myself.

So now, as the music fades,

don't try to remain strong.

Cause this plague i have is infecting the nation,

and i know it wont take long

until the guns come,

along with hatred and fear,

leaving us banished

by those we held dear.

You tried to use me,

but that went wrong,

so now your left

at the end of the song.

Now I'm lost, lost in a darkness,

A darkness inside myself.

The cost, it's more than I expected,

and I'm lost inside the asylum of myself.
