Penetrating blackness clings and suffocates,

soaking up any energy or initiative.

Sickening feelings in the pit of your stomach,

sliding helplessly toward the edge of a sinking deck,

the Titanic end to your nightmares,a roiling sea below.

Grasping and clawing uselessly,

everything solid has melted away in the darkness.

God give me one thing! a spark of hope somewhere.

?

Colored lights on a Christmas tree in the night,

brings tears to my eyes.

Past voices and faces and love come flooding back.

For a precious moment the lonlyness is lifted.

Thank you God.
