I am a majestically TOWERING red wood
tree At first, I may not seem like anything, like the
tiniest speck of nothingness your cruel beady eyes have ever
happened to momentarily glance upon, but you have been
horrifically misled because I have much potential in store in
the long dreary years ahead to come
I have a thick trunk, so thick that you’d have
to drill your way to my innermost core filled
with sweet sugary sap. I have many different
functions, from nourishment to providing aid
for others, a baby bird leaving the nest,
a young squirrel darting through a canopy
Of infinite emerald leaves while excitedly chattering
With friends, and a matured bear
slowly but deliberately lumbers through
a forlorn clearing faintly lit by solitary
shafts of shimmering sunlight beneath
I am well-known in this overcrowded
Forest full of masses of brilliant nature
I have matured from a tiny young sapling
To an enormous sturdy tree that stands
Even through the harshest torrents of icy rain
I have been around for millennia and wish to
Share my wisdom I have gained with others.
Yet though I mean much good in this world,
People still hack at me with axes.
All they care about is themselves.
Using my woods to create shelves.
Nevertheless, I allow it to continue on,
For I am not just a redwood sequoia,
I am me
