It is NOT Free
Our soldiers fight for our freedom and it’s not free. When they are tired, they keep moving. When they are hungry, they wait till it’s their turn to eat. They work through the holidays, not allowed to have a day off. When they are gone, out there fighting for our freedom. Their families wonder if they will ever see their loved ones again. Moms, and Dads, Brothers, and Sisters, Sons, and Daughters, Aunts, and Uncles, and Cousins to families. They’re out there fighting for our freedom. Mothers fighting wonder if they will ever see their kids again. A Dads fighting overseas is wondering if he will ever get a chance to meet his baby for the first time. They all wonder if they will see their families again. Some of them don’t. Some of them, they don’t make it home alive. Their family gets handed a flag that’s folded in to a triangle. The soldier handing them the flag, it’s hard for them to do. They feel the pain. The family’s morn for their loved one. The lost hope to see their loved one alive again. It’s not an easy job, to fight out there. Some of us take our freedom for granted. We don’t stop to say thank you enough. We don’t stop enough when we see a soldier, who fought for our freedom, and say thank you. Instead, we keep walking and ignore them. Is that how we say thank you? Is that how we show we are proud of them? If so then we don’t deserve our freedom. They risk their lives, they die, and they lose an arm or leg for us. And for what? Nothing. We can’t give a few minutes, no a few seconds to say, “Thank you for what you do for us”? If not then we are selfish people. We need to tell them thank you every chance we get because, Freedom, It is not free.
