An age of well ordered living
A time of living with the land
A tale of the Tasmanian Aborigine
A tale passed down with pride.
When men lived in a land of plenty
With spirits of strength and pride
When Woman walked with mother earth
And bore true herbal lore.
When boys were given spears and clubs
as soon as they could walk
And girls were given digging sticks,
chisels and climbing ropes.
A time when, gathered around the camp-fire's
the dreaming s of the people would be told
Some stories told of man's exploits,
in battles with other tribes
some told of long journeys
and experiences in love
Their were stories about the sun, the moon,
and about the different planets in the sky
Their were stories told of animals
and how they came to live near-by.
Stories about fire, how it was made and used
And together with their dances
and together with their songs
The history of their people would be told.
The stories helped them to understand their past, and
told them of their duties, both towards each-other,
and the land, that came their role, their reason.
