We are all subjected to strife, hardships, and pain. We all make mistakes that we wish we could take back. We all long for second chances and wonder where we'd be had things happened differently. Only some though choose forgiveness, never back down, and accept what they have been handed.

I’ve always pictured my life

Being filled with laughter and love.

Finding Prince Charming and

Living the American dream.

I never thought the reality of it

Would be a whirlpool of hardships.

Overcoming and standing strong

Is much harder done than said.

I always dreamed of a life

Making a difference in the world.

I want to help and motivate others,

Leading them closer to their own dreams.

I never thought that one day

I’d have to fight for my own life.

Fighting for safety and sanity,

Fighting for tomorrow.

I’ve always envisioned smiles

That pierce my heart deeply.

The kind of smiles from others

That heal the soul in an instant.

I never thought people I love dearly

Would be the cause of so much pain.

Comprehending and trying to deny

That sometimes it’s intentional.

I’ve always longed for fulfillment

Beginning with everyday choices.

Instilling pride in those who love me

And pride in myself for my own accomplishments.

I never thought I’d look back on life

Crying over laughter and laughing over tears.

I’ve learned to accept my past and forgive others,

Knowing that each day has made me who I am.
