Holding On While Letting Go

The stars and the moon
That once shone bright
Are now dull, empty specs
Consumed by night.
The wind smacks my face,
Similar to the truth,
And all I can manage to do
Is think about me and you.
I sit in the cold,
Alone, of course,
And unleash my feelings
With substantial remorse.
I wish for your heart
And pray for your attention.
I wish we could talk
About things unmentioned.
I seem to smile less
Each and every day,
But when you asked I lied,
“I’ve always been this way”.
There’s so much hidden
And so much tucked away,
I wonder if ever you’ll know
The girl you say you love every day.
Once I’m all alone
It’s hard to fight the tears
Because when you’re gone
It feels just like when you’re here.
Emotionless is the word
That describes our so-called lives.
I remember when our word was passion,
But like everything else, it too dies.
I gently wipe my eyes
With the hands you used to kiss
Who knew the most painful love
Was the one you not only have, but miss.
