For so long

It's been so easy to see

How things would fall apart

How helpless I would be

Watching as it happened

As the thread holding us up

Grew thinner and weaker

With every argument

With every fight

We get closer

Spiraling out of control

Consuming my soul

Circling the drain

Ignoring the pain

Not realizing until it's too late

Until this group activity

Of self destruction

Has taken its toll

Wiping away any trace

Of our once shared serenity

But still I hold my head high

Throw on a happy face

Pretend I'm fine

In spite of the declining conditions

In this once tolerable place

I'll carry on as long as possible

I just want it to be done

I just want to be free

But for now

Still a prisoner I shall be
