That summer was the best summer of my life. In all my years, that summer was the only one not made incredibly dull by my “parents”. It stands out for many reasons. Some I want to remember and others I don’t. It went by way too fast and had the ending of a bad movie; one that started good then became perfect, and then lost all joy it had ever held. That summer changed something in me. It brought out a warmth I had never known. It softened my heart and gave me back my will to live. To live for both us. To live for Sam.
