The keen knife of betrayal

Slices my soul

Its ruined remains lie butchered.

Your words pierce my brain

With pin point precision

Forcing the life blood

To gush and flow in waves

Washing up on the shore

Of my heart.

Devastating despair

Devours my limbs

Which slump in defeat

No longer in control.

My mind struggles to comprehend

This overwhelming hurt.

Anger, deadly and dangerous

Invades my being

Forcing my blind eyes to see

And my deaf ears to hear

The heart stopping truth.

Hope withers and dies

On its stalk

Its petals falling desolately

To the stony, unforgiving ground

Upon which I walk

As I leave.
