A song of life ticking away.

Time Waits for No Man

by Ruben S J Faam

As time ticks on

And music fades,

Our developing minds,

Grow old with age,

The clock strikes one,

We breathe the new air,

While people hold us

With utmost care,

The clock ticks two

We stumble on forth

With inquisitive legs

That stride us north,

Once time tocks three

We form new words

Comprehensive language

And literary hordes,

Our clock flies to four

And reaches new bounds

Educational years

Are hereby found,

The clock flickers five

New feelings to examine

And carnal desires

No more sexual famine,

Time sits at six

Exams are falling

Onwards and upwards

Business is calling,

The clock stands at seven

Work wears us thin

We need something new

A project to begin,

Eight comes forth

A partner appears

The love of your life

And soulmate for years,

Nine is knocking

From a wonderful source

A brand new clock

Starts ticking its course,

Our clock tocks ten

Theres a familiar sight

The new clocks adventures

Are hitting new heights,

The number of eleven

And time’s low in stock

The antique ticks forth

One grandfather clock,

By the hour of 12

Our time has stopped

No more tick-tocking

For the cuckoo, has clucked,

The prowse of this poem

Is make the most that you can

In the essence of all

Time waits for no man.
