Of everything I’ve been through nothing has begun to prepare me for you.

I see you from a distance and my confidence I’ve been through fire to achieve crumbles like a great mansion of paper, Already you have taken it captive.

I approach with my heart steadily rising to a place high in my throat, all the while relentlessly drowning my thoughts with its incessant pounding.

I great you with an even voice and coherent words which is nothing less than a heavenly miracle.

I look at your face so expressive, gentle and delicate but with a certain trace of wildness under the surface.

You take a tone pleasant and warm as you customarily do, the extent of your openness and self surety magnify my condition.

We discuss matters little and unimportant. Out of our small conversation you give me little to piece together to understand your view of me.

A kind word, a look of longing and you have melted me, yet more than that your heart is reluctant to betray.

At your initiation we embrace before we part, I could stay here with you in my arms and not a thought to anything else but life is cruel and it must end.

Afterwards while trying to control my accelerated heart I spend my thoughts in wonder thinking of what might have been at work behind your mysterious and beautiful demeanor.

I must settle, as I always do, for a feint hope that your actions reflect the same forbidden feeling I harbor for you.
