Wolf of the Night

She watched as night fell,

Upon the horizon,

Bringing out stars,

And the moon in the dark,

She watched the shadows,

As the forest awoke,

And danced among fir trees,

As the clouds above broke.

Padding through pine needles,

On the damp forest floor,

She watched all the branches,

As they shook in the wind,

Casting shadows,

Along the stream bed.

Then stole to the top of a cliff high above,

She stood through the snow fall,

Of that cold winter night,

Leaving tracks in the snow,

Illuminated by moonlight,

At the top of the stone peaks,

She felt the North wind,

As it blew through her fur,

And across her domain,

She looked at the sky,

As the silver moon waned,

And looked towards the forests,

As they whispered her name,

The misty air,

Up high in the mountain,

Soon blocked out the view,

Of her snow filled kingdom.

Her eyes shone bright gold in the moon-glow

And her gray coat glistened,

With small flakes of snow,

Reflecting the moonlight,

And she howled to her pack,

In the dead of the night.
