a broken branch lays next to me

while i'm sitting on a rock

in the middle of a stream

it's leaves

are brown and withered

they lost their will to live

a tree that stands half naked

puts a chill through my spine

i sit and look,

and think about that branch that's next to me

in a strange way

it reminded me

of my family tree

i too was a branch

that grew amongst the trees

the difference

between that branch and me

was my spine landed in the water

and from that water

i did feed

a helpless branch

from the woods

a near naked tree

that once proudly stood

lays one of it's branches next to me

while i'm sitting on a rock

in the middle of a stream.
