Oxidation

Have you ever gone out to your car and noticed a spot of rust? This is a product of the oxidation process. Oxidation is a reaction that happens between different materials like some kinds of metal, and even in our bodies. Oxidation uses oxygen molecules to interact with other molecules from other materials, like metals, cells in our body, and in our body itself. When oxidation occurs in our body it breaks down cells, and can cause illness, and even chronic diseases. Oxidation can enter our bodies through rays from the sun, pollution in the air, adult beverages, and even tobacco smoke.

Eating vegetables and fruits can boost our health, and even counter the affects of oxidation. Because these foods are rich in vitamins, they are very good for us. These foods contain antioxidants. Antioxidants decrease or slow the oxidation process. The antioxidant molecules bond with oxidation molecules, this makes the oxidation process slow, and weak. Health professionals proclaim that while eating a healthy diet, taking vitamin supplements are very beneficial at reducing the affects of oxidation.

Antioxidants are very beneficial to our health because when they attack oxidation molecules in our body, they weaken them. They can also help heal the damage done from oxidation. Antioxidants also slow the aging process, just the opposite of oxidation. You will still age, but much slower, and with grace. Studies have also shown that with the proper antioxidants, you may be able to slow or even prevent the development of cancer. With adequate amounts of antioxidants to help counter the oxidation process it will give us a healthier, longer life.

Even though the oxidation process seems dim, it also sheds some light. By the process of oxidation farmers can grow more nutrient foods, and also proves helpful in waste treatment. Remember, oxidation breaks down particles, and this causes rotting. Could you imagine what our planet would be like if nothing rotted? Compost is a soil many farmers are using in their fields, and is a very nutrient rich compound to grow better healthier foods. Luckily we have oxidation, or this planet would be filled with garbage.

Oxidation is a chemical reaction that uses oxygen molecules, which interact with other molecules, in either metals, or flesh. It breaks down cells in our bodies and can cause illness. Antioxidants counter oxidation. Eating healthy foods, gives us antioxidants, and could add years to our life. Without oxidation we would have a world full of garbage.
