I love you
but I do not know you.
Not hardly, not fully
My heart burried in the earth
sad and sullied.
I pull back the corners of the braided rug
and hope to see your soul
in a bundle of stars
and find only cold ceramic tile.
I see the depth behind your eyes
the coy twist of your smile.
But I cannot reach
I am only a thing
amongst things
I imagine your hands pressed to my skin
Return my memory to your breath again
I want to stir you into my tea like honey
consume you in fire
But the truth is salt on my finger tips
It's bitter
and burns my eyes.
