I wrote this poem during a year I took between high school and college. I wrote it after looking at the ground under a bench on an overlook near my house. The title refers to finally getting out of the hospital.

Recovery

Green Green Green grass

Whispers

My shoe answers bending

Blades of grass.

Enveloped in that

Tangle tangle tangled

Hair of grass.

Stones and cigarettes.

Lungs full of some odd shape

Some strange strange force

Draws extract exact

Sun on my face.

Listening to shouting

Nihilists. TV blares some

Odd concoction to make

You happy!

I sit back in my chair

And wait. Inhale, exhale.

I find your eyes.
