Riding the train has never been so much fun.

I love trains. Today is no exception. I boarded with my backpack and suitcase. I’m going to visit friends I haven’t seen in awhile. This trip has been planned for a long time. Some people would say trains are slow or boring. I am not one of them. I help an elderly woman to her seat when she seems unsteady after coming back from the restroom. She tells me she is going to see her daughter. I play peekaboo with a toddler a few rows up. His mother smiling at me in thanks. Two young women travelling together flirt with their eyes. I check the time on my watch and check the schedule again. I need to make this stop on time. My friends will be waiting for me.

I depart the train on time. My friends meet me at the local pub we agreed upon. It is good to see them. We ask the bartender to turn up the news while we sip our beers. There is a breaking story a train that just blew up not five miles from here. We grab our backpacks and head out. I’m glad I don’t have to haul the luggage bag anymore.
