you called me but I missed it

so I called you back.

you told me that you were lonely

and sad without a cent to your name

and you wanted me there.

it’s a good thing that I already had plans

and that I could say no to you

because it is all too easy to say yes

and if it is meant to be there’s our whole lives

to fulfill the prophecy.

you hardly talked, but you said

she wouldn’t be back in time

still it wouldn’t be a good idea to see me

tomorrow night it wouldn’t be a good idea

to be happy without her

tomorrow I’ll call you, see if you’re

doing anything for the night

and if you’re not I’ll stay with you

watch a movie and drink red wine

don’t worry I’ll pay.

I’ll tell you I won’t sleep with you

but I’ll mean it in a sometimes way

we work together we really do

you can teach me piano

I’ll sing for you.
