The Strange Dream
Chapter 1: Sasuke's Bad Dream

The space in Uchiha Sasuke's dream was pitch black, the same as it always was. It was always the same dream over and over again...Only this time is was slightly different.

Suddenly, Sasuke's parents fell to the ground, dead. Sasuke shuddered and turned around to see his pink-haired teammate, Haruno Sakura, fall to the ground. Sasuke raced towards her.

"Sakura!" he shouted, holding her cold, limp body in his arms. A single tear fell onto Sakura's face.

"Damn you, Itachi." Sasuke whispered, brokenly. He held Sakura's lifeless body in his arms and cried.

Outside Sasuke's dream...

14 year-old Uchiha Sasuke awoke, terrified, from his dream. He put his face in his hands. "Why am I still having that dream...? And why was Sakura in it this time?" Sasuke asked himself and then looked up at the clock. "Oh, shit!" he exclaimed in surprise. "I have to hurry or I'm going to be late for training!"

Sasuke got up and started to get dressed, but as soon as he stood up, he felt dizzy.

He ignored it and started to get ready, using the wall for support. Eventually the dizziness subsided. Sasuke went to the door and, just as he opened the door, the dizziness came back. 'Forget it. I can't train today.' Sasuke thought, disappointed. He shut the door and went back to bed.

Sasuke felt sick. 'Shit...' he thought.

Elsewhere, a blonde shinobi and a pink-haired kunoichi stood waiting for their sensei...

"I hope Sasuke-kun's okay..." Sakura said, worriedly. "He's usually here before us." she looked at her blonde teammate, Naruto.

"I'm sure, he's fine, Sakura. He's probably just late." Naruto said, looking at Sakura, cheerfully. Sakura sighed, worried.

"Hey! Naruto! Sakura!" their gray-haired sensei shouted, walking towards them.

"You're LATE!" Naruto and Sakura yelled at him in unison.

"Well, you see I got lost on the way here and-" Kakashi said and was cut off.

"LIAR!" Naruto and Sakura shouted. They looked at him in annoyance.

"Sorry, sorry..." Kakashi said, absently. "Hm? Where's Sasuke?" he asked.

Sakura frowned, worriedly and said "I don't know...Sasuke-kun is usually the first one here. I hope nothing has happened to him." she knew something wasn't right and she wanted to make sure Sasuke was okay.

"Well then, Sakura, why don't you go and check on him while Naruto and I train?" Kakashi asked. Sakura nodded and ran off towards Sasuke's house.

"Hey wait! -" Naruto started and was cut off by Kakashi giving him a hard look. "Damn it, Sensei! Why can't I go?" Naruto asked.

"Because if something really is wrong with Sasuke, the last thing you want to do is make things harder." Kakashi said and they both began to train.

To Sakura...

14 year-old Haruno Sakura raced towards Sasuke's house and arrived at his door in minutes.

Sakura knocked on the door and heard Sasuke's voice say "Yeah, come in..."

Sakura hesitated. 'It's okay.' she thought to herself. 'I'm just checking to make sure he's okay.' she went inside and closed the door quietly behind her. "Sasuke-kun?" she said, looking around the room.

"I'm over here." Sasuke's voice sounded weak. Sakura looked over to see him lying on his bed. He didn't look too good.

Sakura sat down next to him on his bed, being careful not to jostle him. "Hey..." she said, softly. When Sasuke didn't respond, she gently put her hand on his forehead and, sure enough, he had a fever.

"Sasuke-kun! You have a fever! Are you feeling sick?" she asked, worriedly, brushing his hair back from his pale face. Sasuke nodded, almost imperceptibly.

Sakura ran to the bathroom and wet a towel. She went back to Sasuke and, carefully, put it on his forehead.

"Thanks..." he whispered, weakly. Sakura was barely able to hear him.

"It's okay." she said and went to get Sasuke a glass of cold water. She went back to him and said "Can you sit up?" she asked.

Sasuke nodded and tried to sit up. Sakura noticed that he was having a little trouble and placed her hand on his back to support him. "Here." she said, giving him the glass. Sasuke drank the water and Sakura laid him back down.

"I'm going to go tell Sensei that I'm going to stay here and take care of you, okay?" she asked, grabbing his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.

Sasuke looked at her. "Okay..." he whispered, almost inaudibly.

Sakura let go of his hand and pulled the blanket over Sasuke. She put her hand on his cheek and said "I'll be back soon. In the meantime, get some rest and please don't do anything reckless, okay?"

"Okay. See you soon." Sasuke whispered, closing his eyes. In minutes he was asleep.

Sakura took her hand from his face and went to the door. She opened it, went out, and shut the door quietly behind her. Then she took off running to go tell Kakashi that she would be taking care of Sasuke for awhile.
