The Strange Dream
Chapter 2: Sasuke's Confession
Sakura reached Kakashi and Naruto in minutes. Kakashi looked at her and asked, "So, what's up with Sasuke?" Sakura looked at her sensei, intensely. He nodded in understanding.
She looked at Naruto and said, "Naruto, I need to talk to Kakashi-sensei. Can you please leave us alone for a few minutes?"
Naruto looked at her closely, nodded, and walked away from Sakura and Kaskashi. "Sensei, Sasuke-kun and I won't be training for a while." Sakura said, quickly. She looked at her sensei, pleading for him to understand.
"Why not?" he asked, looking at Sakura carefully. He saw the urgency in her eyes and he knew that she had a good reason.
"Sasuke-kun is very sick and he can't do too much on his own." Sakura said. Kakashi nodded in understanding and she continued. "I'm going to be staying with him to help take care of him."
Kakashi looked down at his young student and made his decision. "It's okay with me." he said. "I won't tell Naruto because if he were to find out, he would cause trouble by going to visit Sasuke." Kakashi made a face at the thought.
"Thanks, Kakashi-sensei!" Sakura smiled at him and took off running towards her house.
To Sakura...
Sakura raced towards her house as fast as she could and arrived there in minutes. She grabbed some medicine and made some soup for Sasuke. She went out the door and ran towards Sasuke's house.
When she got there, she knocked quietly on his door. There was no answer and she went inside. She put down the soup and medicines and looked at Sasuke and saw that he was still sleeping, restlessly. She went over to him and gently shook his shoulder.
"Sasuke-kun." she said, still shaking his shoulder. "I'm back. Please, wake up." she looked at Sasuke's pale face. Sasuke's eye-lashes fluttered. Sakura waited until his eyes blinked and slowly opened before taking her hand off his shoulder. "Sasuke-kun, are you feeling okay?" she asked, softly. Sasuke looked up at her.
"Not really..." he said, sleepily. Sakura went to grab the medicine, went to the kitchen to get a spoon and glass of water, and then went back to Sasuke. She sat down next to him and sat him up against her and gave him the medicine. Sasuke grimaced when the reddish liquid entered his mouth. Sakura quickly handed him the water. Sasuke took a sip to help him swallow the medicine. He shook his head, trying to get rid of the taste.
"I know it doesn't taste good, but it should help you sleep better, though I'm not sure about your fever..." Sakura felt his forehead. 'It's still burning hot.' she thought and looked at him, in concern. "Can you walk at all?" she asked.
"I don't know." Sasuke said, truthfully. "But I'll try and find out." he scooted away from Sakura and towards the edge of the bed.
Sakura got up and walked across the room. "Try walking to me." she said, looking at Sasuke and preparing herself just in case he fell.
Sasuke nodded and stood up. He started to take slow, unsure steps towards Sakura. He wavered as he moved towards her, as if he wasn't used to walking anymore.
Sakura could see that Sasuke was losing his balance and met him halfway. He fell as she reached him and they fell to the ground together, Sasuke landing on top of Sakura.
"Well, that didn't end well. Sorry for falling on you." he said, in disappointment. Sakura looked up at Sasuke and, seeing his dismay, put her arms around him.
"It's okay, Sasuke-kun. You tried your best." she said, encouragingly. Sakura could see that Sasuke was still disappointed because he shook his head, sadly. She let go of him and they both sat up.
Sasuke looked at Sakura, sadly. "Sakura..." he said. Hesitantly, he hugged her. She rubbed his back, trying to cheer him up.
"You'll get better. It's not your fault." Sakura said. She pulled back and smiled at him. "Let's get you back on the bed, okay?" she asked. Sasuke nodded and Sakura stood up, pulling him up with her. She helped Sasuke sit down and sat next to him. "Sasuke-kun, why are you so sick all of a sudden? What happened to you?" Sakura asked, after a minute.
"I don't know...It might have been the nightmare I had." Sasuke replied, quietly. Suddenly, the dizziness came back and Sasuke fell forward off the bed. Sakura caught him before he hit the floor and pulled him into her arms. He was breathing heavily and his eyes were shut tight.
"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura exclaimed, in surprise. She felt his forehead and found that his fever was higher than ever. Then she took her hand off his forehead and grabbed his hand, trying to settle him. "Are you okay?"
Sasuke slowly opened his eyes. "I'm fine..." he said. Sakura helped him lay back on the pillows, still holding his hand.
"You don't look fine." she said, in concern. "If you're feeling sick again, you should probably get some rest."
Sasuke looked unsure and Sakura remembered what he said about having a nightmare. "Are you worried about having the same nightmare?" she asked, and Sasuke nodded. Sakura squeezed his hand. "You don't have to worry. I'll be right here when you wake up, okay?" she brushed his hair back off his face with her free hand.
Sasuke was still unsure but he said "Okay..." he laid his head on Sakura's lap and closed his eyes. In minutes he was fast asleep, holding Sakura's hand tight.
