I

I love you so much

that bedtime for me

is 11pm in America

and morning in the UK.

That distance for me is

distance,

and not a metaphorical wall

or time lapse into the future

or poetic strength or weakness.

but simple miles

the way that road separates me

from uni, or the supermarket

or my dad in London,

but more.

*

II

I love you so much that looking at you

is like seeing a kaleidoscope

engrained with moments and

pictures of you

weaved with tastes and hints

and smells

that your eyes are

braille for my eyes

which my brain forgot how to translate

my but heart can recognise.

*

III

I love you so much that

with you I laugh

just as much as I do

when I'm on my own.

That with you I feel

as bare as I do when I take

my skin off and hang it up at the door.

That looking into you is like

seeing into myself.

*

IV

I love you so much that you scarred,

tattered and dirty, at my feet

is treasure.

And I will sit with you,

and show you how beautiful

the view from here can be too.

and I will turn myself inside out --

not to compare scarrs

but because I cannot turn down

an invitation to embrace

them.

That I will not extend my hand down

to you from above

because I always want to be

shoulder to shoulder

so that when you are

ready to get up

you know you always have me

to lean on.

*

V

I love you so much that reminders of

you are scattered around

in stripes and spots and frills

and their warmth overflows

from my heart

to the capillaries

around my feet.
