“So, yup. There it is. I’m totally in love with you.” He finished.

She stood there, stunned. “Uhm, is-is it okay if I don’t know what to say..?” He looked at her. “Yeah. I was hoping you kind of didn’t.” She nodded. The whole situation was awkward and both felt the tension begin to rise. “Well, I need to grab my purse and go find the group..” He nodded, “Yeah, me, too.” She nodded and reached down for her purse. As she straightened back up, he was right there. “I know he’s my friend.. But, I-I can’t take this.” He grabbed her face and pulled her lips to his, kissing her. She closed her eyes and just let it happen, not stopping him.

Why wasn’t she stopping him? Her eyes flew open and she jerked back. “I-I gotta go. Bye.” She stammered and ran towards the building. Tears filled her eyes as she cut a corner and ducked outside. Blackness surrounded her and she felt more alone in the world than she had ever felt before. She didn’t know why, though. She let her tote bag drop as she sunk to the ground as well. She rested her elbows on her knees and buried her face into her hands. “What the fuck is wrong with me?” She whispered to the darkness, tears filling her eyes again. “Why didn’t I push him away at first?” She cursed at herself. Tears flowed down her cheeks, spilling onto her faded jeans.

She let her hair fall into her face as sobs racked her body, shaking her to the floor. She bit her lip, trying to hold in a yelp. Gravel crunched a few feet away. “Hello? Who’s out here?” She heard someone ask. She peeked through her hair up at the intruder. It was some stupid kid. She stay still and kept quiet. Soon, the kid walked away, not realizing anyone was there.. She sniffled and wiped her eyes, hoping her mascara wasn’t smeared too badly. The girl straightened up and threw her hair back, trying to look as if nothing was wrong. Then, she walked around in the darkness, feeling her way around the building, going towards the streetlight.

As she was about to step out into the light, arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her to the wall. She almost screamed, but lips were crushing hers, taking her breath away. She jerked away. “What the fuck!?” She whispered fiercely. Aiden laughed. “Baby, chill. You look like you just went swimming and like you’ve seen a ghost!” Her boyfriend laughed again, until he saw she was about to cry. “Babe! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you so badly!” She shook her head. “What’s wrong, babe?!” She just shook her head and collapsed into her lover’s arms. He held her close, kissing her forehead, and hugging her tightly.

After a few minutes, she sniffled once more and pulled away. “I’m alright.” He looked at her. “Are you sure..? What happened with that loser? Did he make you cry? Oh fuck no!” He started to stomp off. “No! No! It wasn’t him. I’m just upset..” She lied. “Well, okay.. I love you, baby.” He whispered, stroking her hair. “I love you, too..” She whispered, clenching her eyes shut. After a while of just holding each other, she was back to her old self. They held hands and ran to the swing set where the rest of their friends were.

When they arrived, all the couples were locking lips and there he was. Standing alone. “Babe, come here.” Her boyfriend whispered, pulling her against the wall, trying to kiss her. “No, Aiden.” She tried to say jokingly. She didn’t want him to hurt or to be jealous. She felt bad.. She knew what it was like to hurt. “Come here.” Her boyfriend pulled her hips to his and he kissed her. She pulled him around the side of the building, trying to hide from him.

Suddenly, everything went silent. No couples were smacking lips. One person broke the silence. “PIIIGS!” She let go of Aiden and they hauled ass around the other side, everyone hauled ass. Her boyfriend, his best friend, and his girlfriend went one way; she ran the other with her best friend, her boyfriend, and him. They four of them ducked into a building and ran down a dark hallway. “Here!” Someone hissed. They used cell phones for light and hid under tables. Somehow, he made his way next to her. They all held their breath as heavy feet pounded past them, a flashlight shining in for a moment. His hand grasped hers, squeezing it. She jerked away.

After nearly twenty minutes, the four friends stood up. “Holy fucking-fuck shit.” Her best friend laughed. They all laughed for a moment before realizing they need to leave. She pulled out her cell phone. “Babe? Aiden? Baby?! Where are y’all?” She whispered. “We’re across the street, ducked behind some fucking trees and shit.” She giggled and told everyone. They all smiled. “We’ll be there in ten.” She hung up her phone and shoved it in her pocket.

She peeked into the hallways and saw the coast was clear. She waved her friends on and they split up, agreeing to meet across the street. Somehow, once again, he was with her. They ran down the hallway and ran left. They duck outside and ran towards the air conditioners. A flashlight shined a few feet away and he grabbed her, tackled her to the ground near the garbage cans. They ducked behind the cans, him sitting on the ground and her sitting in his lap. “You fu-” He clasped one hand over her mouth and another around her waist, holding her in place. A light shined inches away from their hiding spot.

“Nothing here. Anything there?” An authoritive voice called out and the light disappeared. Her adrenaline was pumping and her heart was beating fast. She tried to even her breathing, but her chest heaved as they stayed still and tried to be silent. Something harden under her ass. “Oh fuck no.” She whispered, throwing his hand off her. “I’m sorry! It’s your fucking fault! Breathin’ hard and shit!” She slapped him. “And you say you love me.” She hissed. He grabbed her wrists. “Don’t ever say I don’t love you. Don’t you dare. I’m a man and I have needs and I have feelings. A need is sex, sorry. A feeling is love for you.” He let go of her and stepped away from their spot. She stayed silent and ran towards the street. He followed.

Soon, they made it to the forest, everyone else already there. The group stayed together for a few minutes before getting into their cars and leaving. She grabbed her keys and hurriedly climbed into her truck. Her best friend, Victoria, followed. As she started the diesel engine, she broke down into tears. “Oh my god! What’s wrong!?” Her best friend asked. She broke down and told her everything. They sat in the empty parking lot for a while, just talking. Finally, she drove Victoria to her home. As she got out of the car, she turned back to her friend to thank her for the ride home. “Girl, no problem!” She laughed to Victoria. Her friend stood there for a moment. “You know what really sucks ass?” She shook her head. “What?” Victoria laughed as she said it;

“They’re both named Aiden.”
