One of the longest pieces I've ever written. It speaks for itself, basically.

'It's irrelavent,' the say
though I know they're wrong
they all want to be the same
and want me to play along.

'It's not a game,' I say
though I know that no one hears
as I slip into that dress
and try to drown my fears.

'Is she ready?' they all ask
and I swear I want to scream
to try and get them to understand
that things aren't always what they seem.

'I am ready' I reply
though I know my words are false
and that rythmic drumming that I hear
is simply my own pulse.

'She's a beauty,' I hear spoken
as I'm walking down the aisle
it's not a promise to me
but more like I'm on trial.

'Don't be nervous,' my prince says
and though I want to reassure him
I can't speak beacause of the shakes
that pass through my every limb.

'Are you alright?' he asks
but he doesn't even speak
for the words are in his eyes
and they make my knees feel weak.

'We'll run away,' he'd promised
but it wasn't meant to be
for the man who made that vow
now wasn't before me.

'I do,' I hear him say
and I want to close my eyes
for our hearts are in denial
and our voices speaking lies.

'I do,' I say softly
as I am to play the part
and our kiss and smiles are acted
as if we perfected the art.

'Let us go,' he says
and his touch is almost nothing
and I know what we both wanted
and that now we both are suffering.

'A little longer,' I whisper
the act of ours gone through
though every wittness had believed
every vow of ours was true.
