I wrote a story for a class about my Nana, it was a diary really. But I made a poem as well. A poem I always had in my head but never knew I had it.

I used to hug her, warm in my arms.

She was my favorite person-

To bake with, talk to, and read.

She was one of the first-

To hold me, to make me a gift.

She was with me-

In the hospital, at school, and at home.

She took care of me-

When I was sick, when my parents worked.

She is gone…

Never to be with me again.

She is safe-

Watching over me, every step of the way.

Now she is cold-

Now she is ashes-

Now I hold her in my hands-

She stays in a silver heart,

A heart that will always be close to mine.
