My family and friends,

No longer know me.

The man who they knew -

A distant memory.

When life got too tough,

I faltered and failed.

I took to the bottle -

My pain slowly healed.

The path that I chose

Shows the man that I am.

A wasted existence -

Devoid of future plans.

Sat out on a bench,

In the pouring rain.

Drowning my sorrows -

And numbing my brain.

A feeling of dread,

Spreads throughout my veins.

I've under achieved -

A man with no name.

As the hands of time tick,

The sands of time slip.

My heart beat depletes -

With memories eclipsed.

I won't be remembered,

And why should I be?

I cared for no one -

Though they once cared for me.
