A poem about a man's destruction by the hands of unseen forces controlling society. Really belongs with COASE, but I decided to keep it separate for now.

Wake up, they're calling again
Can you hear it echoing in your head?
It's coming from within your pen
Scratch away, everything, he said
Write it down, so you will not forget
But it doesn't really matter now
The pieces are in place, events, set
Do you know why? Do you know how?
I'm confused, lost in this place
Inject me, pump in my mental juice
Feed me, look me in the face
And tell me, my questions, seduce
Whisper in my ear, the secrets you hold
Tell me the darkness, tales of woe
Show me your courage, the text so bold
Why did that man, speak so low?
Because they would hear him otherwise
They hear all, with their little bugs
It is among them, they breed, despise
No, not smokes, sex or even drugs
It's power they seek, the ones all around
They pump it like oil, from society's grasp
Listen to it, you can hear the sound
The hissing from the poisonous asp
It's tongue flicks gently, soothing your mind
It tells you nothing, leaving you alone
Yet still it asks, 'leave all behind'
All your possessions and loves, disown
Give it to them, the ones hidden deep
Profess them your masters, let them win
So they may control you, even in sleep
Steal your dreams, for they are a sin
Freedom, a lack of control
Wild and natural, as it was intended
But alas, here they come, eyes like coal
And with death, this poem has ended
To you my final words are goodbye
When you find this, weep for me
For as I type, I will surely die
But perhaps then, the world will see
The evil ones
