To think I spent all of these countless years
looking for love, searching and then finding it dear.
You would think that it was some sort of revolution,
the way it changed my whole constitution!
My God, I think I've seen hell and came back.
Never knew it was cold, bleak and so black.
It took out the life that was breathing inside of me.
Blindsided me so much I just couldn't see.
Nobody ever told me just what was in store.
How can something that eats at your very core,
make you beg and scream out for more?
Where's my shining white knight, l'amore?
Guess those storybooks I kind of adore
didn't have any of the answers. That's for sure!
But didn't we believe in all of their lore?
It's another day spent ravished and wasted.
Ah yes, love, that I have certainly tasted!
Nothing anyone could ever teach you in school.
Did it make me much wiser or just a plain fool?
As I contemplate these thing up all night thinking,
I'm carrying a big head spent from all day drinking.
And I'll tell you it's for certain,
when I'm sober it ends up always hurtin.
