the world is a stage and we each have our parts

We're two actors on the stage.
And it's our final curtain call.

Didn't grow so well with age.
But by God, we gave our all.

We didn't read the script at hand.
We adlibbed the parts to stall.
It wasn't really well planned.
Now it's our final curtain call.

From the very first act
I knew I was gonna fall.
The odds against us were stacked;
made me feel rather small.

We didn't read the script at hand.
We adlibbed the parts to stall.
It wasn't really well planned.
Now it's our final curtain call.

We didn't take on the proper roles.
No, we didn't follow them at all!
Our play had one too many holes.
The critics say we've a lot of gall.

We didn't read the script at hand.
We adlibbed the parts to stall.
It wasn't really well planned.
Now it's our final curtain call.

Still, I think we'll receive applause.
We were in it for the long haul.
Weren't we fighting for a cause?
We did our best; we stood up tall!

We didn't read the script at hand.
We adlibbed the parts to stall.
It wasn't really well planned.
Now it's our final curtain call.
