I've seen death
softly exhale, like a whisper,

it's very last breath.
The body lie still..... peaceful
absorbing its final reward.
Like a sweet melodious song
it was playing its last momentous chord.
And I thought this was beauty,
a life lived so well.
I treasured its memory running through me
swift as a gazelle.
But sadly I've known some
who were still very much alive
that been so badly depleted,
that could not yet revive.
For what is worse
a body claimed by God, that is taken
or a dispirited soul
that's been left, sadly forsaken?
I'd rather hold precious memories
of a great yesteryear
than live so morose in today
consumed in undying fear!
