i can hear you sing again. the pain is still there, but at least you’re back. the love, they joy is almost there. and it makes my heart leap, knowing i might have helped. for a while, this song had been all me. i sang the descant while you sat in the corner. the chorus in the background was silent for you. this life was all about me because you were hiding. i’d sung at full volume, covering up for your disappearance. but you’re back, i lay off a bit. and now our voices blend, the melodies and harmonies float around. you still don’t know what i know, you still don’t get that i’m doing this for you. and i pretend as our voices match, that you do this for me. my life is yours. but i don’t tell you because i fear for you. fear for me. fear for us. but you’re back. i hear you, and believe i might have a chance. at least i can hear you sing again.
