This is a sonnet I wrote about the true story of the little mermaid. Please read the story before the sonnet otherwise it wont make sense! Or you can read it and try to figure it out :)

My voice still lingers through my chambered heart,

And in all four does foreign silence loom.

Sweet sacrifice that I would never part

From deadly love that leads me to my doom.

Three hundred traded for uncertainty,

With virgin feet upon steel knives I tread,

A heart that must choose ‘twixt the land and sea,

A tragic death born from three words unsaid.

Catastrophe gave life to our love lost,

A wishful spell undone by lack of tongue,

Last chance at love now foiled by its cost,

My final song forever left unsung.

Though thou art lost to me I will remain,

Until my life the morning sun shall claim.
