I set up the Christmas tree this year
Full of Christmas wishes that I hold dear

Lights are fussed with half the day
To make sure they will twinkle in just the right way

Next I place links of green and red chain
It represents to me, fun and time we spend as a family

Working to achieve a goal we can all see
Giving my children and I a link of unity

Adding colorful bulbs that have a story of their own
Friends and family have an imprint on each one

The years photos and of memories long past
Imprinted on the globe in hopes that the memories last

I watch while my children gather round the tree
To place upon it all their own memories

The handprint with eyes painted like Santa
Made by my daughter just a part of her own saga

Dora, spider man strawberry shortcake, and more
There all on the tree to remember the things we adored

Years and dates are a part of the fun
To show all the time we have had to collect each one

The ones that I hold most dear
Are the ones that each of us makes each year

This year I’m adding a special white bulb
To remind me of the beauty in love

All are heirlooms for which I will pass
To my children, their own patch of the past

Each part of my tree a story we share
Good times and bad, my tree does bare

Colorful lights twinkle ever so bright
My tree is topped with an angel of light

She is to watch over all my memories
That adorns the most beautiful of all Christmas trees
