Who is that person following me?

Up, down. Up, down. Up down the tree!

I tried to outrun it- I did my best,

But this figure is now a pest!

I throw things on it hard and soft,

It stands there tall and strong!

I sat and wonder, how to get it gone,

And has it been there long?

I tromp and stomp and jump, up and down,

I wish it would frown!

And as you do from day one,

I sat down and cried with my mum.

“Why is this person following me?

Why can’t I set it free?”

My mum, she laughed and through her head back.

“Sight is what you lack!”

I looked around from side to side,

“I guess my eyes have lied.”

“I have one too sweetie-pie,

He watches and guides and us through our lives!”

She stood me up took off my hat,

And we went for a nap.

I sniffled and ran to where I last sat.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

“I want my shadow back!”
