It was a dark autumn night, about three o’clock in the morning. I closed my eyes to focus on the sound of the storm. The raindrops hit my ceiling just right for me to hear every little thud. Suddenly a loud scream broke the drumming in the sky. The sudden light from above made me open my eyes for a few seconds. I stood up to look outside but I had a lightheadedness wash over me causing me to fall.

Tonight was my night. A cold autumn night, a rainstorm ruling the sky, no people in sight, calm. Tonight was the night for me to return home. I had wasted my time with these simple creatures only to be out casted into nothingness. I could not stand this agony anymore. Tonight, will be my last on this world.

I was dressed in my finest clothes. I wore a black lace dress with a corset bodice. My hair was straight and beautiful, black as the night sky. My nails were perfectly wrapped in a black coat of polish.  However, as always when I looked in the mirror I had seen the dreadful, obnoxious, disgrace of a girl, and I wanted her dead.

Then I saw him. He was on my balcony not far from where I lay. I got to my feet still uneasy and walked to my balcony door.

“Come to me darling, come to me. I will save you!” he said in a hushed voice as he reached forward laying his palm of the door. I got up and walked to the door and he went back staying the same distance from me as if playing a game. I opened my balcony door and turned the brass handle.

I stepped out into the cold night following him. I kept walking forward till I was on top of the bearer to stop me from walking right off. I got ontop of it and turned to look back into my room. The man then appeared in front of me again. He smiled

“Darling you have suffered your last” he said. Than he came right up to me and through me making me fall back. I fell back for what seemed like hours. When I hit the cement, I closed my eyes.

Everything was stopped. My mind went blank. I no longer felt the agony, i no longer heard the voices. I heft happy again. Then I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder. Slowly i opened my eyes to see him.

His eyes were as gentle as his touch. His hair was dirty blond, it had a slight shine to it in the night sky under the lamp post. His eyes were a mix of brown and green like a cat’s but softer and soothing. He looked deep into my eyes and i looked back. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, as i turned away.

“Darling, you're safe now. You no longer have to deal with the pain of society. I’m here to help you.” he said softly.

“How am I alive?” i asked him as i lifted my arm looking at my hand.

“You're strong enough to live, your spirit will live. Only your mortal self died.” I looked at him still a little confused but happy.

“Thank you”

“You dont have anything to worry about anymore, Scarlett. I will always be here for you.” he said as he wrapped his arms around me hugging me tight.
