Hear the banjo boy near the corner streets,

Plucking in the blood orange evening sun,

Enchanting children in the throbbing beats,

Like crowds to a unforgettable pun.

The youthful sailor’s banjo laughs a twirl

Smiling to the children's’ applauding style,

He locked eyes with an ethereal girl,

And she returned with a radiant smile.

Songs of the open sea and talking gale,

Dancing to the sound of the mourning moon.

Young children gape and dance with hale,

Happy with the golden lamenting tune:

And silent ‘midst the children's’ dancing beat,

She walked away; smile in time with her feet.
