After we left the woods, we began walking through the quiet neighborhood. We remained quiet until he cleared his throat and asked, "Are you cold?"

I shook my head and said no, but I started to tremble and I felt embarrassed. He noticed and surprised me by handing me his beanie. "Here. It's not a long way to my house but I don't want you to get sick." I looked at it in my hands and at him. He stared ahead. I put it on and adjusted it.

While we walked, he talked about his past. Turns out, his parents died in an accident when he was younger, so he lived with his aunt, but she was mental and abusive, so he now lives with his grandmother. "And I'm not very welcome around here, I've been picked on at school because of the way I look. Go figure. But enough about me... Tell me about you." I was nervous to tell him... But before I knew it, I had come out with everything. He looked at me the whole time and listened. When I was done, I was on the verge of tears again. Then he said, "I completely understand your pain..." I looked at him and he looked ahead. "I haven't had the best life either. But, at least we met now." He smiled. I smiled back. That was something that I will never forget.

We walked down a street or two and came up to a lonely looking house at the end of my street. It looked like it needed some repair, but it looked decent other than that. And I was thrilled to discover that he lived near me.

We walked up the creaky stairs to the front door and walked in. It was nice and warm in the living room, but the house looked and felt empty. Did he live alone? "Want me to take your coat?" Ethan asked after shutting the door. "Oh, sure," I took my coat off and handed it to him. He took it and hung it up on a coat rack by the door. I looked around at the bare room. Seems cozy... But unsettling, at the same time. Why?

"Have a seat on the sofa, if you'd like." He gestured me to a dark and worn out sofa, andI sat on the edge. My heart began to pound, I felt so nervous now. Here is this perfect guy in front of me and I'm acting like an idiot in front of him, and sitting on the edge of his sofa, about to fall off of it and embarrass myself more. Ethan sat next to me and I could feel him looking at me. I blushed. Then he started chuckling and I blushed more and looked at him.

"Something wrong?" I asked quietly, my voice trembling a little. H stopped and looked me in the eye, " Oh no, I'm sorry. I just noticed how nervous you were, since you're sitiing on the very edge. I assure you it's okay, sit back." Can he read my mind or what? I sat back slowly and still felt my face turn bright red. I couldn't control my nervousness, I think I was starting to like him.

For the rest of the night, we talked about everything and anything. It turns out, we had a lot more in common than I thought. And I really did like him, he made me so happy.

10 years later, we graduated high school together and got married, then had a child later. We were happier than ever, and while we were in school, Ethan fought off my bullies so no one picked on me after we met. We had one child together before he died in a car accident two years later. I was extremely upset, bu tmy son helped me through it, he was my whole world. I raised him into a brilliant young man and when he went off to college, I died soon after from an illness.

And once I was brought to the after life, I wondered around for a while until I found Ethan. Sweet, kind, wonderful Ethan. My son followed 50 years later, and we all lived as a happy family in the afterlife.

There's nothing more I can ask for.
