7:00 am, the alarm clock sounds the exact same as always, and you hate it. You've become irritated by that noise every time you hear it and today is only worse, the weekend is over and so begins yet another week.

Hi, my name is Monday and everybody hates me.

Shower water runs, coffee pot brews, attitudes flare, and life feels miserable.... For most. Traffic feels worse than normal and all of those deadlines loom like a dark grey cloud, as children and even adults consider faking illness to avoid what appears to be a horrible life.

Hi, my name is Monday and everybody hates me.

Negativity fills the air, giving the impression that there's no reason anyone should be or even could be happy.... Friday feels way too far away as high school students declare: "it's way too Monday for this nonsense."

Hi my name is Monday and everybody hates me.

What is your least favorite thing about high school?
People.
I hate people.
People are stupid.

Why, why, why, why, why, have I heard the phrase "I hate people" more times than I hear anyone loves anything?
What happened to "people are fricking incredible? Not only did we put people in space, defied the laws of physics, and put more technology in the palms of our hands than we ever thought possible thirty years ago, but we have some how managed to feel under privileged when 91% of Americans own a cell phone. We still complain: I hate Mondays." When someone else practically gives it to us (thank your mother).

It hurts me to hear it now. Realizing how narrow our perspectives have grown. That our entire lives revolve around surviving and not living.

I declare myself happy. Maybe one day I'm feeling a little down, maybe one day I am tired and I dont want to get out of bed. But that does not mean that I can't have an amazing day every single day I'm alive, especially Monday.

Hi, my name is Monday and maybe, just maybe, everybody doesn't hate me.

When I ask people how their day was and they respond with anything not incredible, I ask them "well why not?" I practically live by the saying why be sad when you can be fabulous?

*By the way, the definition of fabulous is extraordinary, not just gay.*

Hi my name is Monday, and maybe everybody doesn't hate me.

So, next Monday, wake up happy. Be positive and confident. I'm going to have a great day, I'm going to make a difference to someone today. This is either a challenge or a gift... Depending on whether or not you choose to accept it. I accept. Today will be one of the greatest days I have ever had the privilege to live. Take risks, get off the internet and go to a friend's house. What's the worst that could happen? You'll have fun? Oh no, that might be terrible.

Hi, my name is Monday, and one person loves me.
