Dear Aunt Francie

Mom says you are the best cook in the family so maybe you will know what happened to me when I tried to make whipped cream for some berries yesterday. My 4-H leader says I let the cream get too warm before I started.

I wanted real stiff whipped cream so I kept beating and beating it until it looked funny and started getting watery so I beat some more thinking it would get stiff, it sure got stiff, it turned to butter. I already had sugar and vanilla in the cream so Dad says I should use it make cookies. Mom and Grandma Jessie think I am funny because I worry so much about cooking good.

We had whipped cream because I was able to skim some more cream off the milk, put it in the freezer a few minutes to be sure it was good and cold then I carefully whipped more cream. At least we have lots of milk because we have our own cow that Dad milks. I really don't want to learn to milk as our cow goes plop plop fizz fizz when she is milked then Dad has to clean out the barn after her.

I made chocolate chip cookies today and the sweet buttermilk will be pancakes tomorrow.

Did you ever make that kind of mistake?
