A WORD from your Scrupulous Poet-
To the rapper: whose main focus is the diamonds in his chain. His least concern is what his people stand to gain. (Or lose)
Some of you rappers never sold a rock until your first record deal.
Now from your studio you push big keys over MP3’s and CDs.
Rappers keep this thing real. (Wake up studio hustlers!!!)
It’s your own race you’re exploiting to make ends meet.
This mindset is weak.
For the ones who sold dope before their record- we don’t need ‘em!!
WHY do you continue to endorse a lifestyle that you have abandoned?
Lyrically, you’re selling dope to your own people. (That mess should be illegal!!!)
LOOK HERE!!!
Brothas have made the penitentiary a revolving door, trying to fill your shoes!
Anyone trying to live out your lyrics would be considered fools.
If hustling hard and giving a uuhhh! Is all that, why are you still rapping?
If you are so bout it bout it, so quick to pull the trigger, why are your bodyguards doing the clapping?
Between explicit rhymes and enticing beats, I’m losing sleep.
Your negative influence is causing our youth not to sleep.
These youngsters say “you can’t hustle in your sleep” so they stay on the grind.
Doors continue to open for our youth to excel.
All you offer them is crime…..and a stint in jail.
You platinum selling artists, living in the hills (among the stars!!!)
Some in posh neighborhoods with about 30 different cars!
In the midst of your law-breaking rhymes, did you consider the multitude of young brothas living behind bars???
We cheered as you sent aid to Katrina and your efforts toward the homeless.
Yet you’ve created some obstacles for our young, black, fatherless.
You know, the ones who have no male to guide them;
No father to teach them.
With your short-sighted, selfish raps you found a way to reach them.
?
All rappers WAKE UP!!!!! Take care of your future!!! (the YOUTH)

Scrupulous
