Time is a river.

Karg often chooses the young to be hosts.  Regardless of planet or species, children are easier to control.

Energy beings do not usually inhabit life forms such as humans.  Being surrounded by muscle, bone, and blood mutes Karg’s electromagnetic trail.  That is important.  He is a criminal, and is being pursued.

He doesn’t know the entity's name.  He assumes it is a policeman or a bounty hunter.  He calls it Dusk, the time of day it prefers to attempt capture.

Karg searches for inhabited planets with powered transportation.  Makes hiding easier.

He’s learned.  No matter what, Dusk will find him.  He keeps moving.

On Earth, he’d eaten, drank, danced, and driven a car.  Now, Dusk was near.

He entered the girl’s mind in the restaurant bathroom, while her father waited outside.  He/she climbed out the window and ran down the beach, to the juncture.  Where Karg would resume his journey.  Dusk will lose his trail, temporarily.  Then, the cycle will continue.

Karg could sense his pursuer.  No more time.  He exited the girl at the juncture, where the beach met the water.  She froze for a moment, then fell to the ground.  Karg heard her crying then slipped away.

Thanks. It took me three times as long to cut it down to 200 words for the contest than it did to write.

I simply loved it. I would have given it first place, but hey... second is not so bad considering there are some very good writers on here. Great read, and congrats!!!!

Thanks. This was written for a contest with a 200 word limit. I had to cut it in half to make it fit. It was hard to do but it forced me to think about every word carefully and I really liked the way it turned out.

Short but impressive. I believe there is such energy being exist. I am interested to know how Dusk is going to catch Karg? Using tractor beam? Or a electromagnetic net?

Good questions. I wrote that for a contest that had a word limit. All I can remember about writing it was how hard it was to edit it down to the right size. Thanks for reading and commenting. I should probably write a story with a tractor beam and an electromagnetic net.

Yea! Please do it. That start my ideas too. Your Sci-Fi stories are great. Will read them all.

Thanks! I'll do it, I haven't written any sci-fi in a while. Maybe I'll do a followup for The Getaway. Right now I'm working on a story about archery golf, when that is done, I'll give it some thought.
