Every time I go to our place

I can hear your voice in my head &

My eyes close upon themselves

& memories of us

In those sweet summer days where

You would lay my head upon your lap

& you would play with my hair

& whisper sweet promises of love,

Yes for we were in love then

& when we were together the world

outside could be aflame but we could not care for we were

In each other's company

& we were content but then

Out came the lies

& the heart wrenching betrayals & and we grew so angry that

When we fell apart we were prepared

To commit such sins

& what crimes we did to each other means

It's hard to believe we were once happy

& so deeply in love that we would smile

& dance oblivious to the world around us.
