Myth of Perpetuation

After dinner I’ll be in the yard
Watching the sky fall around us
I’ll bury my head in the sand
Every time you take a breath

Wayward thoughts gone astray
Wasted youth whitewashed gray
Worrisome adults crumbling at their foundations
Overlooking the beauty in humanity’s humiliations

Holding out for deliverance
Phantom limbs blowing in the wind

Confusing one way streets
In a city such as this
Forgettable and useless
Unbelievable

In a city such as this
Accustomed to misdirection

We’ll make up for lost time tomorrow
Everything will be back to normal
Our convoluted conversations minus said pauses
Direct eye contact in our air conditioned offices

One less day of decomposition
One day closer to liberation
As the exterior deteriorates and the core glows brighter

Have to remember that it’s all an illusion based on perceptions

An idea with sails
Let loose on the ocean
