Butterfly Effect

Stillness
Sends me back
To myriad
Of pyramids
And pilfered artefacts

Or is it rather
That being still
Still is
Death march of April's
Cruellest month

When the violent
Flutter of a single
Butterfly wing sends
Storms to restore
Time and
Or

Space

To zero Kelvin

Freezing even
Death into dying
Second death into second
Thought

Which I never claimed to have
Which you never had to claim

But rest assured
Stillness kills
It is its own kind of paralysis

Its own path
To electrocution

The trick
Is to flick any
Of its many manifestations
From the eyes
Even of fetal-positioning kids
To keep going
Running
Cresting
Falling

Crestfallen
Into walled-in goodbyes

Good ridding
Moving on toward

Distance making
Taking no breath of our own

Because that would bring us
To pause
The cause of poets
Who are killers
By their refrains
Madmen
By their

Stasis, a psychosis
In full bloom

Unblown and unblowing

Turbulent
As an evening
Not breathing

Or a morning
In seething
And not even
Oddly bothered

Enough to say,

"That's plenty enough of that, for today."
