"You may leave and get back to your parents if you don't intend to work", said Gaurav furiously.

Such disagreement was part of Gaurav and Ahana's marriage. They had known each other for 10 long years and had decided to spend life together for the reason that they were a better company for each other. Marriage, however has its own demands and sometimes just a good companionship doesn't look sufficient.

Ahana and Gaurav were successful professionals and led a great life when it came to work-life balance. They were happy together, but there existed a fine line between them which they couldn't wipe off.

Ahana had been a chirpy girl all her time, she was the noise and storm of her house. When she decided to marry Gaurav, she wasn't prepared for the responsibilities that came with it. Neither did Gaurav know how to handle situations post marriage. Theirs’s was love marriage, and like most Indian families, Gaurav's family wasn't welcoming for Ahana. She was scared, unprepared and unaware of how to live all by herself with no one to look for her and teach her.

She kept pushing her limits, surrendering and sacrificing every day to get the tag of a "Good Daughter in Law" and a "Good Wife". Her silent efforts slowly instilled the "taken for granted" attitude in Gaurav.

With passing time, Ahana was getting weak. She couldn't handle the stress at work and home alone. She wasn't at the receiving end when it came to affection from Gaurav's family. He was her only strength and support in the house.

But when it came to sharing of responsibilities, they always saw differences. Retaliation was her invitation of being asked to leave. Her ask for help was unheard. Being in an Indian family, a girl is by default expected to take it up all on her and keep pushing her limits without complaining. Cherry on the cake is you can't even get back to your parents as well until something really drastic has happened.

This became a practice, until one day Ahana took her step. When Gaurav asked her to leave, she left. Can't go to parents, has no idea where to go, but she was sure that her step was right as it took her to the path of her self-respect. Gaurav wasn't there when she left, he didn't ask her to stay. When she closed the door that day, it closed her heart. Because the feeling where you don't share isn't Love and the house where no one cares isn’t home.
